Oriens Capital Supports Local Youth with Back-to-School Costs
Local Tauranga business Oriens Capital has donated $2,500 to the charity, Te Aranui Youth Trust, through the Acorn Foundation. At a time of year when many children in our region struggle to afford the basics for school, Tanya Grimstone, Funding & Administration Manager of Te Aranui Youth Trust, said the donation will make a real difference to vulnerable youth in our community:
“We would like to thank Oriens Capital for their very kind donation, which will allow us to support our rangatahi with school uniforms, stationery, and shoes to ensure that they are ready for day one of the new school year. Donations like this one, particularly at this time of year, make such a difference to Te Aranui Youth Trust and the rangatahi that we work with.”
The small team of six at the investment management firm, Oriens Capital, have been supporting local charities via the Acorn Foundation for the past three years. Oriens Partner Peter Tinholt says the team feels strongly about supporting the community:
“At Oriens, we have a strong philosophy of giving back to the community through both our time and also our corporate giving scheme via Acorn. We have chosen to give via Acorn because they are well connected and with their guidance, Oriens can regularly help to make a difference,” says Peter.
Over recent years, the Oriens team have also supported Tauranga Community Foodbank, and local branches of Youthline and the Salvation Army.
Acorn’s Corporate & Community Giving Manager, Emily Goulding, says that corporate donations like these can provide a lifeline to vulnerable people in our community:
“Sadly, we often hear stories from charities in the Western Bay of Plenty about children who are unable to afford the necessities. As Term 1 approaches, this time of year can be stressful and expensive for some. Te Aranui Youth Trust are one of several fantastic charities who do life-changing work in this space. It is heartwarming to know that businesses like Oriens Capital care about the communities they operate in.”
